Introduction — the client & their business

ASEAN Institute+1 Their initiatives include the ASEAN Institute Accelerator, the ASEAN Carbon Neutral Initiative, and market expansion and commercial collaboration programs. Pre-project challenge:

  • The existing site delivered core information but lacked a compelling, optimized digital experience to attract thought leadership, partners, and stakeholders.
  • The messaging around initiatives, collaborations, and research was siloed and not sufficiently surfaced for SEO visibility.
  • Navigation and content architecture did not support discovery or user pathways between projects, blog content, and institutional offerings.
  • Trust, credibility, and impact signals (reports, initiatives, accelerator program) were present but not highlighted in a conversion-oriented way.
  • Performance and content structure issues likely impaired search visibility and user engagement.

ASEAN Institute engaged your agency to reposition their digital brand, amplify their research and initiatives, and build a content / SEO foundation that supports thought leadership, stakeholder collaboration, and public engagement.

The Challenge

Here are the key pain points we determined:

  • Content discoverability & siloed messaging
The site had “What We Do,” “Initiatives,” and “Blog/Research & Reports” sections. ASEAN Institute+2ASEAN Institute+2 But they were not fully integrated: users might land on reports but lose context of institutional programs (Accelerator, Carbon Neutral, Market Expansion).
  • Navigation & user paths unclear
Visitors interested in investment, partnerships, or research lacked clear paths from homepage / entry pages into relevant deeper content (e.g. “ASEAN Institute Accelerator” program).
  • SEO & topical authority gaps
Initiative pages and blog posts had strong content, but needed structured clustering, internal linking, metadata optimization, and schema to strengthen organic visibility.
  • Trust / Impact signals underleveraged
The institute’s credibility (its programs, published research, stakeholders) weren’t always foregrounded in the user journey where they could drive engagement or partnership inquiries.
  • Performance & mobile experience
With many content pages, media, and reports, the site risked slower loading, especially on mobile or lower-bandwidth settings.

What was at stake: lower institutional authority, fewer stakeholder partnerships, missed visibility in global trade / tech sectors, reduced research engagement, and underutilized digital brand potential.
